Travel Document Requirements

TRAVEL DOCUMENT REQUIREMENTS

Travel Documents can be used by Belizeans who have lost their passports, or whose passports have expired. A travel document can only be used to travel directly to Belize. To apply for a Travel Document, proceed as follows:

SEND COPIES OF ALL DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO consular.cervice.USA@mfa.gov.bz - DO NOT PHYSICALLY MAIL IN YOUR DOCUMENTS TO THE CONSULATE

1. Print, fill out then scan and return by email, the TRAVEL DOCUMENT APPLICATION FORM along with all supporting documents; please do not use white out on form.
2. Original Birth Certificate or Notarized Copy with a valid photo ID or Notarized copy of valid photo ID or Original expired Passport (issued after March 2015). 

Valid IDs are Belize Social Security Card, Belize Voter’s ID, State issued Driver License, State issued ID or passport, Consulate issued ID or Certificate of naturalization by registration or descent.

1. Original marriage certificate(s) or Notarized copy and or Original Divorce decree(s) or Notarized copy if there has been multiple name changes and current name differs from the applicant’s Birth Certificate or Valid Photo ID.

NB:  BELIZE DRIVER’S LICENCE OR INTERNATIONAL DRIVER’S LICENCE ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE FORMS OF IDENTIFICATION   

1. Two (2) passport pictures, size 2”x 2”.  

Choose an appropriate hairstyle or haircut that allows a clear view of your forehead, your shoulders, and the tips of your ears.  Full forehead and tips of ears must be visible; hair pulled back behind ears; avoid High ponytail/buns (hairstyle). DO NOT cover hair line (avoid using a headband).   Teeth must not be visible.  DO NOT wear a WHITE or LIGHT shirt/blouse, hoodie/Jacket/ turtleneck sweater, or face/hanging jewelry; Photo must be taken on a white background.

The following attires are NOT appropriate for Passport size photos:

- Light or white and sleeveless shirts.

- High ponytail, High hair Buns/Ponytail

- Hoodies, jackets, sweaters.

- Face jewelry and hanging jewelry.

1. Travel Document Fee for normal processing (ten (10) business days) is $100  

Travel Document Fee for urgent processing time of less than ten (10) business days is $145.00

Shipping and handling $30

1. Travel document will expire after 90 days from the date given. 
2. Travel Document is a ONE-ENTRY Document, by air, to Belize ONLY.  If you choose to utilize the travel document to travel through another country enroute to Belize, whether by air or road, it is your responsibility to obtain advance clearance from that country.
